To keep your escape pod clean, dropping stuff is only allowed while you're outside the escape pod. So right click the extinguisher and watch out that you don't drop it on your toe. Clicking onto something with your left button means using it (as in eating it if it's food or putting it on if it's clothing, etc) while the right button simply drops it. Here, again, the two mouse buttons have different general function. Dropping things is done from your inventory, which you can reach by pressing tab. As you have already noticed when you put out the fire, left-clicking interacts directly with the environment (picking stuff up and touching stuff) while right-clicking makes you use whatever you're holding right now (like the extinguisher once you picked it up). I am fairly sure that at least the top half will stand the test of time, even if some bits change. There might not be all the features discussed available to you if you are using the stable build. This guide was written for the Development Build 34210, Jun-2016 which is the experimental build branch as of writing this. There is a FAQ-Style part at the end of the guide that goes into each "where do I get" and "how do I do" question tacked onto the end of it, so you don't have to read it if you want to explore yourself, but you can look it up in case you're running out of ideas where to get what and how to do something. I will tell you how to interact with things, what is what and what to look for when you're looking for something, what I will not tell you (in the first section at least) is what the blueprints are for, what things to build and what's unnecessary, and where exactly you find what resources and how you harvest them. If you are looking for something that gives you a hint what to look for, how things work here and how you can progress without giving away all the secrets the game has to offer, this is the guide for you. I will go into more detail down in the bottom section (and if you try to avoid spoilers, I will give a spoiler warning before we get there). If you're looking for a tutorial that holds your hand as you dive down, this is not the goal of this primer. So giving out a step-by-step tutorial would kinda defeat this purpose. I got the sequel when it was on sale and I hear it's a little more hand-holdey than the first one, so hopefully it's more my speed.Subnautica is a game of discovery, finding new things, finding new blueprints, finding out how to survive and how to progress. The bugs don't make it any easier to deal with. Hell, I would have still used them even if they did give us a map. The beacons are useful but not enough to make up for the missing map. The VERY LEAST they could have done was given us a map. There were a handful of times where I got caught in difficult catch 22 situations in which I couldn't do X until I got Y, but I already exhausted the available supply of Y, so unless I can do X then I won't be able to get any more.ĮDIT: Forgot to mention that it gets REALLY OLD scouring over the entire ocean floor and go through the "oh shit I'm going in circles aren't I?" scenario again and again. It gets so incredibly tedious trying to find specific things you need to craft a thing to craft another thing to help you MAYBE advance the story a little bit, and it wears me out. So which of you elite players were able to actually finish it without any outside help? I applaud each and every one of you.Įven with help I still have a shit ton of trouble with the game, and I have fallen off the wagon numerous times. It's my only gripe of the game in that it really didn't do a great job in laying out your path in the latter portion of the game. Maybe I missed some direction given for these but yeah I stumbled around way too long. Mostly for the later orange and blue keys that I needed in the various alien locations. I do have to admit though, even after reading all of the database entries multiple times and doing what I felt was adequate exploration, I had to use some guides along the way. I hope it can live up to what this game established. I'm finally closing in on the end and can't wait to try the sequel. Recently started over and I'm just over 40 hours and finally got to the Primary Containment facility and I can't believe how insanely great the experience has been. I tried it when it first came out and played for a few hours but it seemed pretty eh at the time and I was thinking it was just a basic survival game set in water. First off, I'm absolutely blown away with this game.
